Pre-festival
• Clearly identify the client’s objectives and priorities
• Develop a comprehensive publicity strategy tailored to the client’s individual film or project
• Consult with client in terms of development of marketing materials (see PR materials)
• Create in-house marketing brochure promoting all projects represented by Stephen Lan at a particular film festival, to be distributed in electronic format as well as physically
• Target specific journalists to pitch creative story ideas related to client’s projects
• Promote client’s project and presence at film festival to the media via Stephen Lan web site
• Act as an essential bridge between the client and the film festival by liaising closely with festival organizers to ensure smooth project delivery
• Arrange for translators to assist talent during media interviews as necessary
• Organize special events on behalf of the client (see Event Planning)
During festival
• Actively set up one-on-one meetings with journalists and pitch story ideas relating to client’s project
• Provide clients with up-to-minute reports on critical feedback of client’s films
• Draft and send press release to target trade press as suitable to the client’s project
• Connect closely with clients’ filmmakers and talent; assume role of host to filmmakers and talent to ensure a proper and enjoyable stay during the festival
• Organize dinners on behalf of the client
Post-festival
• Compile a comprehensive final report, including a full list of interviews done by filmmakers and talent
• Final report may also include key recommendations in relation to the client’s project
• Compile pull quotes from published film critiques and sound bites from other journalists
